This species has been assigned a conservation category of Vulnerable in the state of Para, Brazil (Source - World Conservation Monitoring Center - 1992 ). 

Distribution
The natural growth range of this species is reported to be restricted to the non-inundated lands of the lower Amazon region in Para, Brazil.

Product Sources
It is not known at present whether timber from this species is obtainable from sustainably managed or other environmentally responsible sources. 

The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) reports that the species is a fairly important source of timber, and is frequently exported.

Timber produced by this species is reported to be labelled and marketed sometimes as Satinwood.

The tree is described as large, attaining a height of about 130 feet (40 m) at maturity.

The heartwood is brownish in color.

The grain is variable.

The texture is typically medium.

The material is reported to be highly lustrous.
